Obedience

Obedience is as important as eating, for it is the whole purpose of life. Man was created and sent to earth to see if he would be obedient to God, parents, prophets, commandments/word, and the Spirit, not to his individual lusts. For if man cannot be obedient here, how can he be trusted with God's power? Obedience comes from a love of God(a desire to serve him), not fear. When you obey, you abide in God's love and your love is perfected in Him. All you have to do is have a willing heart, ask, hear, and obey. There are many examples of obedience, but Christ is the ultimate example, for with humility and a witness of the Father, He did all that He was asked. Christ is intricately connected to our obedience, for when we are obedient to the Atonement, our peace is multiplied and we see and know God. Being obedient, in essence, is "bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ." If we could just get all our thoughts serving Christ - a daily moment by moment "sacrament" what blessings we would find! It's the little daily obedience(especially during times of tribulation) that make the biggest difference - acts that are better even than sacrifice for we learn more through suffering. For when we are obedient, combined with the Atonement, that is when we will see and know God, when we will find salvation. When we disobey, we lose the unity and power of numbers, we are cut off from God, sent diseases, plagues, fire, death, curses, destruction, the gates of hell are open to us and we are, in short, consumed by misery. Yet for those who obey, they are blessed to be the greatest creations(for nature, in all its simplicity, is greater than us for they always obey), increasing mightily, given freedom, wisdom, light, truth, grace for grace, fulness, knowledge of all things, kingdoms, temples, dominions, glory, multiply and be fruitful, long life, inheritance of the earth, access to God's love/tree of life, the Lord is bound to you and you have blessings forever.
